While some women shy away from bright colours and bold prints, Katy Perry has never been afraid to experiment with fashion.

The 25-year-old showed off her unique sense of style last night as she enjoyed a night out clubbing in New York with her fiancé Russell Brand.

And Katy wasn't the only one to be excited by her trendy ensemble of a kaleidoscopic-style dress and matching purple heels, as Russell couldn't keep his hands off his bride-to-be when they left Trousdale nightclub

The pair were out celebrating the upcoming release of Katy's new single California Gurls, which also features Snoop Dogg.

The track will debut on U.S. radio on May 25 before its release, but has already been leaked on the internet - to the delight of many of Katy's loyal fans.

While some have likened Katy's new sound to Ke$ha, others have labelled the track the 'anthem of the summer'.

And it seems Katy is determined to get into the summer spirit early, as she took inspiration from the bejewelled bikini she wears on the cover of the single for last night's look.

She also tweeted earlier this week: 'Having a dance party in car right now in Times Square dancing 2 my song California Gurls... We're gonna have so much fun this summer! Gahh!'

However, while Katy opted for a colourful dress, Russell stuck to his wardrobe staples of a black t-shirt and jeans - teamed with a pair of sunglasses to ward off the paparazzi's flashes.

Katy and Russell are said to be planning to marry in India later this year, with celebrity guests at the ceremony including Rihanna as Katy's maid of honour.

And Katy, who is thought to be planning to wear a wedding dress which shows off her flat stomach, has already started preparations - including a pre-wedding diet and exercise regime.

She said recently: 'I'm preparing a little bit here and there. I have to stop eating McDonald's and start my dance classes!'
